We're All Brits Today

I'd like to take this space to offer condolences to the residents of London and environs who have been horribly affected by today's bombings of the Underground, and to offer my respect for the patient, dignified and solid manner in which they have all conducted themselves.

For those who would like to join me, I'll forward these messages to the British Consulate.

Wishing peace to all,

Madame Poissoniere

Place Your Bets, Win Valuable Desserts!

Judith Miller has just been sentenced to 4 months in a DC jail. Place your bets here as to how long it will take her to start yapping.

I'm down for 2.5 days.

Closest estimate gets a free dessert of their choosing, shipped to them overnight!

And, as always, don't forget your recipes!

Barbecue Them All!

The idea that we could have the Republicans roasted on a spit would be tantalizing, although I don't think they'd taste very good. So here's the place to put things that do taste good! Recipes will be included in 'Cooking Liberally,' available at Eschacon, but if you don't want it published, just let me know!

ImPEACHment Summer Social Recipes

Earl in Toronto suggests that, in honor of Bush's impending impeachment, we have a summer social. It's going to be delicious.

ImPEACHment Crisp with Nuts

In a 9 x 9 baking dish, place the following:

3 c. sliced, ripe peaches
3 tbsp. flour
1/2 c. sugar (you can cut this in half if you choose, and generally, I do)

Top with a mixture of:

1 c. rolled oats
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped walnuts
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 c. firm butter

Bake at 375 F for ~30 min., until topping is lightly browned and the peaches are tender. Serve with whipped cream or ice cream.
